LINDA DEL ROSSO

(DIS)COMFORT ZONES

This group project, in collaboration with Adele Saita, Anouk Hagen, and Carlo Profet, focused on the mass-tourism districts of Plaka and Monastiraki in the historic center of Athens.

Through critical walking we observed the tensions between overcrowded tourist flows and the quieter areas no longer used by local communities, we explored conceptual ways of reappropriating public space and reimagining abandoned, decaying buildings.
Together we reflected on how urban spaces shaped by tourism can regain forms of collective use, intimacy, and everyday life, proposing alternative relationships between the street, architecture, and the people who inhabit them.
