LINDA DEL ROSSO

A SOFT FLOOR
The course Form and Inspiration marked the beginning of my exploration of the relationship between architecture and textiles. The assignment asked students to start from an element of everyday life as a source of inspiration. While some projects emerged from ordinary gestures - morning coffee, a glass of water, a sunset, or the sensation of fear - I chose to focus on the feeling of being held, of feeling loved.

Drawing inspiration from All About Love by bell hooks, I approached Love not as a passive feeling, but as an intentional choice and an active practice. This understanding guided my inquiry into how form, space, and material can embody care. My project asked a fundamental architectural question:
How can architecture become loving, creating spaces that make people feel supported, protected, and held?

After many explorations with different materials, I started working with textiles, resulting in a soft and embracing floor installation.
